In Araba Motorsport we are celebrating: this 2025 marks 10 years since the foundation of the team at the UPV/EHU  Engineering School in Vitoria-Gasteiz. That is why we want to dedicate a space to remember our path in Motostudent.

First Edition: 2015 - 2016

In 2015, a group of UPV/EHU students decided to propose to the Engineering School the creation of a MotoStudent team. This idea was liked by the board and they agreed, allowing the birth of Araba Motorsport. The team started with very few resources and personnel, since, for the first edition, there were only 8 members. This did not prevent the motivation to decline, and even with the limitations that were presented, the team achieved the full design and manufacture of our first motorbike.

For this first year, the team decided to join the Petrol category, as it meant less complexity when it came to the design and manufacturing process of the prototype. This year we managed to pass all the tests, participating and finishing the race. Finally we were 15th out of 27 participating teams.

Second Edition: 2017 - 2018

For this second edition the number of members increased, although not too much, counting with 12. The team decided to continue competing in the Petrol category for this new edition. This time, with more experience and motivation from last year's edition, the team faced the development of the prototype with a higher performance. For this edition, the team was able to carry out some tests both at the Navarra circuit and at the Aragon circuit itself. This allowed us to get to know the bike better and to be able to carry out a more exhaustive work.

In this second edition, the team finished 14th out of 45 participating teams, “matching” the results of the last edition. After this edition, the team decided to make an important change and bet on sustainable mobility.

Third Edition: 2019 – 2021

For 2019, the team decided to change from the Petrol category to Electrical, betting on sustainable and emission-free mobility. This change helped in the search for sponsors, so more funding was achieved. However, the level of engineering difficulty increased considerably with less experience and more components to design. The number of members decreased slightly, being for this edition 7. However, this did not prevent a better development, key to meet the new challenge faced in designing an electric motorcycle for the first time.

Despite the complication of the new adventure, the team participated in the VI edition, finishing in 14th position in our debut in the Electrical category.

Fourth Edition: 2021 - 2023

For this new edition, the team was reinforced with new members, bringing the number up to 20 members. The team continued with the same philosophy as the last edition and produced a good prototype, however, it was quite short of time. Trying to make up for lost time, just a few weeks before the event, a mistake was made that ended up setting fire to the workshop where the work was being made, and with it the prototype for the edition. This was a major reality check, and obviously, deprived us of being able to present a motorbike at Motorland. However, despite not being able to present the MS2, the team did a fantastic job with the MS1, achieving a 4th position in this part of the competition, and a 16th place overall.

Despite not being able to present a prototype, the team attended the event and had the pleasure of visiting the garages of the different teams, as well as supporting our friends from UCO Racing.

Fifth Edition: 2023 - 2025

The start of the fifth edition was difficult, as the incident with the previous motorcycle was still going on and several team members had to leave the project. However, the team managed to recruit new students and increased the number of team members to 33. These new additions allowed a remarkable development both in the technical departments and in the marketing and finance departments. For the time being, the project is progressing well, and we are confident of meeting the objectives we have set internally.

We are immensely grateful for the support of our sponsors, without whose collaboration this project would not have been possible. Their help has allowed us to overcome challenges, grow as a team and continue to move towards new goals such as a good position in the competition.
